Delete your Grainium account
This page explains how to permanently delete your Grainium account and what happens to your data. Grainium is published by Grainium Ltd.
Delete from inside the app
The fastest way to delete your account is from inside the Grainium mobile app (iOS or Android). Open the app and follow these steps:
- 1.Open the Profile tab in the bottom navigation.
- 2.Tap the settings icon to open Account Settings.
- 3.Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- 4.Confirm the deletion. Your account will be removed immediately and the app will sign you out.
Can't access the app? Request deletion by email
If you cannot sign in or no longer have the app installed, send an email to privacy@grainium.tech from the email address associated with your account. Include:
- Your account email address
- Your Grainium handle (e.g., @yourname), if you remember it
- The subject line: Account deletion request
We will verify your identity using the email address on file and complete the deletion within 7 calendar days. You will receive a confirmation email once the deletion has been processed.
What is deleted
When you delete your Grainium account, the following are permanently removed from our production systems within 24 hours, and purged from encrypted backups within 30 days:
- Your account record, email address, and authentication tokens
- Your profile (display name, handle, bio, avatar, date of birth)
- All gallery posts, images, captions, and EXIF metadata you uploaded
- All comments, likes, follows, and event RSVPs
- All Grainium Assist chat history
- All support tickets and conversations
- Your gear library and film stock preferences
- Your saved searches and Recent Searches history
- Push notification tokens and notification settings
- Your subscription status record (the underlying purchase remains with Apple / Google — see "What is kept" below)
What is kept, and why
A small amount of data is retained either because it is required by law, anonymised so it can no longer identify you, or held by a third party we cannot delete on your behalf:
- Anonymised analytics events previously sent to Firebase Analytics (e.g., "light meter used") remain in aggregate counts, but are not linked to you — the user identifier sent to Firebase is a one-way hash that cannot be reversed.
- Crash logs sent to Firebase Crashlytics are stored for 90 days from capture, then automatically purged by Firebase. These contain device metadata and stack traces but no personal content.
- Subscription receiptsheld by Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat are governed by those platforms' own retention policies. To cancel an active subscription before deletion, manage it directly in the platform that processed your purchase.
- Records required for legal compliance — such as tax records of past subscription charges and abuse-related moderation logs — are retained for the minimum period required by applicable law (typically up to 7 years for financial records).
- Public content that others quoted or replied to may remain visible inside their quotes / replies. Your authorship is removed and the content is attributed to a deleted account placeholder.
Retention timeline at a glance
| Data | Retained for |
|---|---|
| Account, profile, posts, uploads | Deleted from production within 24 hours; purged from backups within 30 days |
| Crash logs (Firebase Crashlytics) | 90 days from capture, then auto-purged |
| Anonymised analytics aggregates | Retained indefinitely in aggregate; not linkable to you |
| Tax / financial records | Up to 7 years, where required by tax law |
| Moderation / abuse logs | Up to 12 months, for safety and abuse-prevention |
Deletion is permanent
Account deletion cannot be undone. Once your data has been removed it cannot be restored, even if you contact support. If you want to pause the use of Grainium but keep your account and content available, sign out of the app instead.
If you have an active Grainium Pro subscription, cancelling your account does not automatically cancel that subscription. Cancel it first in App Store → Settings → Subscriptions (iOS) or Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions (Android) before deleting your account.
